Sustainability and Environment protection

In the last few years the topics sustainability and "greening" are gaining more and more in importance, especially in the Meetings Industry. Congresses, seminars and events represent a strain on the environment, be it in the production of waste, energy or CO₂.

To the Vienna Convention Bureau Green Meetings is not only a phrase. We strive to raise awareness for responsible and sustainable actions and support initiatives and projects taken in the field of Green Meetings, sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.
 
At the CEO Summit at EIBTM 2008, the VCB has signed the "Charter for Responsible Meetings" from Reed Travel Exhibitions Meetings and Incentive Events. Furthermore the VCB supports the Austrian eco-label "Green Meeting" and strives to become a licensee of this eco-label, in order to assist conference planners to plan and execute their meetings in an environmentally friendly fashion.

Furthermore the VCB not only follows the Austrian standards of waste separation and energy management but also wants to make a social contribution.     
At two events organized by the VCB in celebration of "40 years Vienna Convention Bureau" in 2009, the support was directed to debra-austria, caring for the "butterfly children". At the annual tribute to the congress organizers held in 2009, the entertainment program was performed by the "No Problem Orchestra" (No Problem Music Therapy - an integrative music therapy for severely disabled persons).
