Hofburg Vienna

The congress centre is located in the former imperial castle of the Habsburg family in the heart of Vienna. In September 1958 part of the Hofburg was opened to the public as Europe's first imperial conference centre, laying the foundations for congress tourism in Vienna.
This made 2008 a jubilee year and we are proud to look back at 50 years of experience and success.

In the past and even more so in the present the HOFBURG Vienna is committed to responsible business practices and the consideration of environmental and social issues in all business matters. Please find below a short overview of our "green" activities.

What we have

• 95% daylight in meeting space
• The HOFBURG Vienna is located in the centre of the city, 7.500 hotel beds in walking distance
• The ancient building enables a natural regulation of temperature. Our thick walls save energy both in winter and summer.

• Use of "green" power from waste incineration
• Caterings use local and seasonal products and avoid non-disposable dishes
• Recycling of waste
• Energy-saving lamps are used throughout the building
• Every room can be individually air-conditioned on demand
• "Green" IT printers and computers are used in internal offices
• Water-saving taps have been installed throughout the building
• Carbon dioxide monitoring is part of air-conditioning and ensures fresh air is being delivered
• Use of environmentally friendly paint and cleaning materials
• Waste heat recovery is implemented in several parts of the congress centre

• Measuring carbon footprint per event
• Helping clients to organize a "green" event
• Implementing central light-control throughout the building
