Vienna Dancing Stars

A client event like no other! Last month, from February 14-19, 2023, the Vienna Convention Bureau had the pleasure of welcoming clients from the US and Canada for an eventful week in Meeting Destination Vienna. This educational trip not only ended spectacularly but was equally enhanced at the beginning and in between by our Viennese partners and hosts. We would like to thank everyone for their phenomenal support in presenting Vienna as the unique and diverse city that it is. A medley of imperial heritage and contemporary flair is what characterizes Vienna and is clearly reflected in the variety of traditional and innovative venues, meeting hotels and activities that were on display during this FAM trip. We were able to showcase its competitive potential and are thrilled to have newly won advocates that transport this message far and wide.

Paul Beaulieu Papineau, Zeste Meetings & Incentives
“Storied, evocative destination, great hotels and venues imbued with sense of place”

Carole Machol-Atler, HelmsBriscoe
“Thank you so much to everyone who planned this event.  It was amazing, eye opening and wonderful.  I know this couldn’t have been easy to plan and it was literally one of, if not the BEST fam I have ever had the pleasure of attending.”

14/15 February 2023
With the support of our co-host and national carrier, Austrian Airlines, we whisked our clients from their respective departure cities to our green metropolis. In view of the occasion, the first part of the arriving guests was invited by the Andaz Vienna am Belvedere to the family style Valentine's Day dinner at the rooftop bar "Aurora" overlooking the impressive Belvedere Palace. We kicked off the next day in a similarly romantic fashion with a vintage Ringtram ride with VEF – Association of railroad enthusiasts including Viennese stories and facts about the famous Ringstrasse and all the venues and sights that have settled there. The day was culinarily accompanied on the one hand by a lunch at the Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof and on the other hand by an invitation of the Viennese DMC IMS – Vienna, Budapest, Prague to typical Austrian cuisine with an upscale twist at the restaurant Huth Gastwirtschaft.

Four erstwhile residential palaces now form in modern elegance the first 5-star host hotel, The Ritz-Carlton Vienna, which was toured first thing in the day. Yet another place that blends the past into the present is the famous Spanish Riding School Vienna. With sparkling wine and historical background, the classical art of riding with lasting passion for the Lipizzaner could be enjoyed during a training session. After lunch in a former bank which today is the exquisite Park Hyatt Vienna including the pre-existing vault, our guests were warmly welcomed into the magnificent Swarovski Crystal Worlds Store, with one or two mementos to take home. For all those who have not yet had the pleasure of a breathtaking view on Tuesday had the opportunity during an invitational dinner above the rooftops of Vienna in the bar and restaurant "The Loft" of the SO/ Vienna

The city of short, walkable distances! Something that is not only often mentioned but fortunately indeed so, considering the packed morning. Various stunning properties and palaces were visited including the brand-new boutique luxury hotel Almanac Palais Vienna. For lunch, the group was treated to a sumptuous meal in the lively "Selleny's Bar" of the Hilton Vienna Park, Europe's largest event hotel in the city center. Hot and cold was the motto of the evening program. Rivalries were sharpened during a game of curling with punch, whereas the subsequent joint barbecue in the huts of the conceptual original Feuerdorf Donaukanal united everyone in a cozy and music-filled atmosphere.

The time spent together is coming to an end, but not without offering our guests a proper farewell. And this required some preparation. Accordingly, we were all coached by the traditional dance school Elmayer, which also choreographed the official dance interludes of the upcoming evening. And where better to learn to waltz than in the city where the famous composition of steps has its origin. Afterwards we were taken on a tour of our second host hotel, Hotel Imperial Wien - a Luxury Collection Hotel. Since all these years, the 150-year-old 5-star establishment remains the place where stories of the famous and infamous are told. From a culinary point of view, the group was invited for lunch by the Almanac Palais Vienna to the restaurant Salon Plafond in the middle of the Museum of Applied Arts. Later in the day, already in our full evening attire, the group was taken to the hotel Rosewood Vienna for a private dining experience. A brand new 5-star hotel, where the finest of European architecture and sophisticated design meet.
And then it was time for "Alles Walzer"! The HOFBURG Vienna invited our guests to this year's traditional Lawyers' Ball and the evening certainly left nothing to be desired. The high spirits permeated all rooms of the former Habsburg residence and after exuberant dancing, the obligatory "Würschtln" (sausages) with beer could of course not be missed.

“Truly a once in a lifetime event and our table location was unbelievable.”
