Entry requirements

  • From 3 November until 6 December 2020, hotels are closed to leisure travellers/tourists. Essential travel (e.g. for business) is still possible.
  • Austria's borders are open.
  • Restrictions on entry continue to affect citizens of third countries in particular. Outside of Europe, residents of the following countries can enter Austria without restriction: Australia, Japan, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, Uruguay. Residents of other countries outside the Schengen Area cannot enter Austria at the moment.

Entry from EU or EEA member state, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, the Vatican or United Kingdom

  • No Covid-19 test or quarantine is required on entry into Austria if the person entering the country has stayed in the following countries/regions in the 10 days preceding entry:

Australia, Belgium (except the regions Région de Bruxelles-Capitale / Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest, Wallonia), Bulgaria (except the regions Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Dobrich, Gabrovo, Jambol, Kardzhali, Montana, Plovdiv, Rasgrad, Shumen, Sliven, Smoljan, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Targovishte, Varna), Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France (except the Île-de-France and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regions), Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Canada, Croatia (only the regions of Brod-Posavina, Istria, Koprivnica-Križevci, Osijek-Baranja, Šibenik-Knin, Varaždin, Zadar), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal (except the regions of Lisbon and Norte), Republic of Korea, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (only the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands), Hungary, Uruguay, Vatican City, United Kingdom (except the East Midlands, North East, Yorkshire and The Humber regions), Cyprus. PCR-Tests

  • PCR-test at Vienna Airport: Vienna Airport offers passengers the possibility to undergo molecular-biological COVID-19 testing (PCR test) directly on site at the airport starting on Monday 4 May 2020. Further information can be found at  www.viennaairport.com/pcrtest
