Austrian Core PCO clients discover Vienna

OPG - Palliative Care, ÖGDV - Dermatology, OeGHO - Oncology, ÖGP - Pneumology, HNO - Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, OEGGG - Gynaecology; these are six Austrian medical associations with congresses of more than 500 participants. All these congresses have either recently been, or will shortly be organized in Vienna. Professional Congress Organizer (PCO) Mondial Congress & Events notices a clear tendency among its regular clients: While in the past years other Austrian provinces had been favored in the rotation, associations now show a clear preference for Vienna. What are the reasons for this phenomenon?

"The annual meeting is the most important education platform for any association", Barbara Skrott, Director of National Projects at Mondial Congress & Events, explains. "Many participants already live in the capital or the larger metropolitan area. Shorter travel times mean more time for education and networking instead of long, expensive journeys." The result: Participant numbers are significantly higher in Vienna than in the provinces.

Another advantage is that industry income is easier to obtain in Vienna. Most industry partners have their headquarters in the capital or the surrounding areas. Higher participant numbers, shorter travel time and the resulting lower staff costs mean a better deal for companies. "For cultural and structural reasons, and also with regard to content, the provinces will remain part of the rotation," Skrott predicts. "But Vienna has a strong presence in this rotation."
