Martin Roy and Benedikt Binder-Krieglstein shake hands

Leadership Change at Reed Exhibitions: Binder-Krieglstein Appointed New Chairman of the Board

"We are very grateful to Martin Roy for his achievements over the past 15 years and are extremely reluctant to let him go. However, in Benedikt Binder-Krieglstein we are very fortunate to have a successor with vision and plenty of drive who has already made a significant contribution to the company’s continued development in his role as operative CEO at Reed Messe Salzburg and Reed Messe Wien", explained Kumsal Bayazit, European President of Reed Exhibitions.

Market leader and pioneering innovator

Reed is now the undisputed market leader in Austria with a current portfolio of 30 of its own fairs. It also supports 84 third-party events at Messe Wien, welcomes around 10,000 exhibitors and 925,000 visitors and participants. Alongside a portfolio of well-established expo themes, the large majority of which are market leaders, extreme innovativeness guarantees sustained dynamism. "The development of new events, digital marketing formats and services is the engine behind the success of our business. This will continue to be the case in the future, so obviously we intend to pursue the road we have chosen – unwaveringly", confirmed Benedikt Binder-Krieglstein.

The conditions for success are all in place. Martin Roy was appointed CEO in 2002 and made chairman of the board in 2015. During his time in the company, Reed Exhibitions in Austria has become the most modern group member of the world's largest privately-owned trade fair organisers. This is particularly true for the development and implementation of the group-wide digital strategy to which Martin Roy has actively contributed in a number of areas. Similar success during his era has been enjoyed by the STANDout subsidiary, which is now one of Europe's leading expo construction service businesses. Now, Martin Roy is convinced the business is in good hands: "It's very good to know that in Benedikt Binder-Krieglstein we have found an ideally suited successor as chairman of the management board. He pays close attention to customers and markets, while also ensuring continued progress in the development of innovative online platforms and digital tools."

Martin Roy is now looking forward to exploring new occupational avenues. In the future, he will be devoting his attention to the fields of digitalisation and innovative business models in the USA and Europe.
