Experiencing Viennese hospitality: European Council meetings at the Austria Center Vienna

Throughout this time, Austria has been a major European political hub. Managing Director and Management Board Spokeswoman Susanne Baumann-Söllner explained: "The whole of Europe has turned its attention to Austria and Vienna – and, of course, to our venue. In all we will have hosted around 130 events and are really proud to have the opportunity to show off the Austria Center Vienna in the best possible light!"

In early October, the Austria Center Vienna and the European Council team invited a select group to the venue for an exclusive tour of the facilities, which included a look behind the scenes. Customers and partners had the chance to look at the areas that are otherwise out of bounds to everyone but the ministers, such as the hall used for plenary sessions, the Doorstep and the Family Photopoint. Susanne Baumann-Söllner added: "We have completely redesigned the venue, adding light-filled lounges and networking spaces in the process. We have also invested heavily in technical equipment and furnishings. During the rotating presidency of the European Council we are offering a full range of services under one roof in our capacity as a one-stop shop."

During the tour, participants were shown a short film entitled Experience the EU, which gave an insight into the preparations and organisation of the European Council meetings, with a special focus on modernisation and room design as well as security and the set-up required for high-level diplomacy.
