Vienna honors congress organizers at Global Meetings Industry Day 2018

Global Meetings Industry Day: April 12 is a special date for the global meetings industry as it marks the day selected a number of years ago by the sector's leading associations to showcase the industry's contribution as an economic driver and a platform for science and research. It also provided the perfect opportunity for the City of Vienna to express its gratitude to all of the city's congress organizers. As a result, spirits were high among the 200 or so congress organizers who attended the awards ceremony at City Hall last week.

Prof. Christoph Brezinka from the University Clinic of Gynaecological Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine in Innsbruck and his colleague Prof. Daniela Prayer, head of the Department of Neuroradiology and Musculoskeletal Radiology at the Medical University of Vienna, accepted the award on behalf of all from Director of Tourism Norbert Kettner (representing Vienna City Councilor for Finance, Economic and International Affairs Renate Brauner), Markus Griessler, head of the Vienna Economic Chamber's leisure and tourism division, and head of the Vienna Tourist Board's Vienna Convention Bureau, Christian Mutschlechner. It is thanks to Prof. Brezinka and Prof. Prayer's efforts that Vienna was selected to host the World Congress of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) and its 3,000-plus participants for the first time last September.
