Reed Exhibitions and Kapsch BusinessCom introduce free WLAN for Messe Wien visitors

Free WLAN for all visitors at up to 200Mbit/s

This will be particularly beneficial to visitors at Messe Wien who have already been surfing there free-of-charge since September 2019 – at a data transfer rate of up to 200Mbit/s. Messe Wien offers up to 25,000 visitors access the internet; in parallel. These technical standards have already enabled Messe Wien to establish its technological leadership among Vienna's key venues, both nationally and in the international arena.

"For an international show aiming to gain a reputation and maintain a position in the top division of events, free and simple access to super-speed internet for all guests and business partners is absolutely imperative. In fact, this will be the first certified WiFi 6 WLAN system to go online on this scale in Austria – in the spring of 2020. From this point on, guests will benefit from internet bandwidths of up to 10Gbit/s, made fail-safe via redundant internet connections, and using separate cable routing to a variety of internet providers. Kapsch BusinessCom's investments in IT infrastructure at Messe Wien Exhibition & Congress Center guarantee the very highest standards of service, and consolidate our leadership as Austria's best-equipped and top-performing venue", stated Martina Candillo, Director of Congresses & Events at Reed Exhibitions Österreich.

New media technology already in operation

The newly fitted and equipped Messe Wien business suites were completed this May and demonstrate where the road to digitalisation for trade fairs and congress business is heading. Reed Exhibitions contracted Kapsch BusinessCom to furnish these facilities with 95-inch flat screens and ultra-modern wireless communications technology, and there are further technical developments in the pipeline.
