European Congress of Radiology (ECR) already for the 29th time in Vienna

For the 29th time, the European Congress of Radiology (ECR), takes place in Vienna this year. Several thousand participants are expected at the Austria Center Vienna and online. The ECR is considered one of the leading international events in radiology and has emphasized innovative formats for years. In 2023, the congress will be held under the motto "Cycle of Life", thus emphasizing the role of radiology along the entire lifespan of human beings.

Interactive formats and focus on trainees

The lecture formats at ECR 2023 will focus on interactivity and dialogue. To this end, there will once again be "Open Forum Sessions," each focusing on one of three topics: Trainees, Radiography, and ESR programs and activities. Speaking of trainees, a separate focus will be on the next generation of radiologists, explains Adrian Brady, President of the European Society of Radiology (ESR): "A highlight of ECR 2023 will be our Trainees in Focus programme, which will offer young medical imaging professionals a tailored series of sessions aimed at providing them with survival tips and imaging tricks for the long careers ahead of them, and allow Trainees to emphasise topics and issues that are of significance to them. This programme will also have its own unique area within the congress center."

Promoting a multidisciplinary approach to health care

In addition to radiologists, the ECR brings together experts from the fields of radiography and medical physics, for whom special programs have been established by the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) and the European Society for Hybrid, Molecular and Translational Imaging (ESHIMT). By bringing together representatives from different disciplines of medical imaging, it is intended to promote a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare, which ultimately benefits patients.

Adrian Brady sums it up: "ECR 2023 will be an unforgettable experience."
