An average meeting guest generates 3.5 kg of garbage, 5.5 kg of paper recycling, 151 l of water and 204 kg of carbon dioxide per day. These figures can be reduced with the implementation of Green Meetings. This is because they are characterized by greater energy efficiency, waste avoidance and an environmentally friendly arrival and departure of the guests. These are all points which also help save costs.
Every year, up to 90 events are certified as Green Meetings with the Austrian Ecolabel in Vienna. The Vienna Convention Bureau is happy to assist you. Certification is free of charge. However, the VCB can only certify events that do not work with an agency or venue that is also a Green Meeting licensee.
